Coco’s Bakery Restaurant believes in corporate social responsibility as an integral part of our business. To that end, we began Coco’s Organic Premium Coffee Program, a partnership with family farmers to purchase 100% organic, fair trade coffee, roasted specifically for Coco’s. The tropical, high-altitude mountain region of Chiapas in Southern Mexico is a locale teeming with natural reserves. Its soil, vital to the production of excellent coffee, is as rich as its wealth of resources. And yet despite the land’s endowments and the hard labor of its people, its local coffee farming communities are locked in a struggle against poverty. Coco’s employees were able to witness these struggles firsthand and it is an experience they will never forget. The native people of the Chiapas region, a place ripe with the opportunity for change, were the perfect partners for Coco’s Organic Premium Coffee Program.
Coco’s Organic Premium Coffee uses agroforestry farming, an organic process that utilizes renewable harvesting methods to keep the grounds fertile for future generations. Coco’s Organic Premium Coffee is produced from shade-grown, Arabica beans, organically farmed and harvested at the perfect altitude. The result is a flavorful, inviting blend with a robust aroma.
By purchasing coffee beans at a fair price, and teaching the local communities the tools they need to build their business, Coco’s will assist in providing a steady income to stabilize a hard-working community’s economy and improve their quality of life.
As we look for more opportunities to contribute to the sustainable development of society, you will find more initiatives like this at your local Coco’s Bakery Restaurant.
A family restaurant helping family farmers; it just makes sense.
